Who are we?

SustainLab is a fast-growing company founded in 2020 by professionals in sustainability and computer science. We are a group of diverse professionals with shared concerns about sustainability and climate issues. We came together and invested our time and passion to help companies, the main contributors to the issue, to accelerate change for better business - better planet.

What do we build?

Data is at the center of everything we build, and our solutions are data-intensive. We vendor an ecosystem of software solutions to help companies with their sustainability data both internally and across supply chains. Our software consists of a dataflow infrastructure, data management applications, data science techniques, and BI tools.

Who are you?

You are a value-driven professional who cares about sustainability and planetary issues as much as we do, and wants to use your skills for good. For this position, we are on the lookout for a senior frontend engineer who is passionate about and has experience in building complex web applications for a data-intensive platform. You are an engineer who cares about well-engineered solutions that are highly reliable, give a high-performance user experience, and follow high coding standards.

What will you do?

• Learn everything about our software stack, underlying cloud services, and our software-as-a-service offerings

• Learn about our product roadmap and our software development pipeline

• Work with our product teams (UX, software, and DevOps) to deliver outstanding products to our clients

• Architect, implement, optimize and maintain our frontend applications and the underlying frameworks

• Build, maintain and refactor existing code bases, improve data structures and algorithms, refactor for full responsiveness, and speed up rendering of the UI

• Develop new features and make them responsive for various screen sizes

• Collaborate in UI/UX to design and improve the products, improve the customer journey and user flow

• Cooperate in software testing, automation, CI/CD processes, and product releases

• Live a culture of teamwork, quality, growth, drive to action, and excellence

• Contribute to the overall developer experience, code quality, and engineering vision of SustainLab

What qualifications should you have?

• Strong software engineering background (5+ years) and profound experience in architecting, developing, and delivering modern web front-ends and applications

• At least 3 years of experience in writing front-end code with TypeScript, JavaScript, SCSS, CSS, HTML

• Profound experience with modern web frameworks (Angular, vue.js, React) and reactive state management systems (e.g. Pinia, Vuex or similar) and understanding of core web technologies

• Solid understanding of build tools (vite, esbuild, webpack or similar), Unit- and Integration-Testing (e.g. Cypress, Selenium), SCM (GitHub) paired with high standards on solving problems with excellent code, peer reviews, Git, CI/CD and a high degree of automation.

• Familiarity with web security best practices (e.g. OWASP, OAuth, Cross-Domain Origin Policy, Certificates, 2-way TLS)

• Good Knowledge about UI/UX concepts and design systems is a plus

• A systematic but pragmatic approach paired with a high sense of ownership and taking pride in the work you accomplish as a team

• Excellent communication skills and an outstanding work ethic
