How Toveks Bil meets CSRD requirements with SustainLab

Toveks Bil is one of Sweden's largest car dealerships, with operations at 27 locations in Sweden. The company represents well-known brands such as Scania, Volkswagen, Audi Skoda and Cupra. With the new requirements from CSRD, Toveks Bil realised that they needed system support to handle the increased demands in structure and transparency.

With the help of SustainLab's CSRD-module, they have gained a tool that creates structure in their reporting, and provides them with the opportunity to focus on developing their sustainability work. Niklas Holth, Sustainability Manager at Toveks Bil, shares his experiences.

Challenges in the motor industry

Toveks Bil has a long history of working systematically with energy and work environment issues, but new requirements brought challenges that require further adaptation. One of the biggest challenges at the moment is water emissions, where stricter regulations place higher demands on action. 

Niklas explains:

“Emissions to water is one of our biggest challenges. It is an area where we have had to intensify our efforts.”

Data collection and traceability are also areas that have become increasingly complex, especially linked to the supply chain. Niklas continues:

“We have a good handle on our own data, but collecting and structuring information from suppliers for Scope 3 brings a whole new level of complexity. We purchase from global suppliers, but through a Swedish general agent. This makes it difficult to get the right data from the factories, both for us and for the general agent.”

Why did Toveks Bil choose SustainLab?

After evaluating several systems, Toveks Bil chose SustainLab, which was presented during a CSRD-course by the Swedish Motor Industry Association (MRF).

Niklas describes the choice:

“The progress bar is an example of how you really have thought about and designed the system to make it easier for us. It clearly shows how far we are in the reporting process and what remains to be done, making work more structured and less vulnerable. If someone were to leave the team, it's easy for a new person to take over thanks to the clear overview.”

He also emphasises how the module ensures that the company always is up to date with data points and disclosure requirements:

“This is a bit like someone reinventing debit and credit. Before, we could say ‘this is how it is’, but now we have to show it in a completely different way. The CSRD module makes it possible to handle this smoothly.”
