Who are we?
SustainLab was founded in 2020 by professionals in sustainability and computer science. We are a group of diverse professionals with shared concerns about sustainability and environmental issues. We came together and invested our time and passion to help companies, the main contributors to the issues, to accelerate change for better business - better planet.
What will you contribute with?
As an Engineering Manager, you will play a critical role in leading and mentoring our engineering team. You will be responsible for people management, recruitment, coaching, and driving technical excellence within the team. Your senior engineering experience will allow you to be hands-on, guiding the development process and ensuring that our team builds scalable, efficient, and impactful solutions. You will have a strong focus on leading the team, including planning, scrum mastership, risk management, and stakeholder communications, ensuring projects are delivered on time and meet our high standards.

What will you do?
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers working on cutting-edge sustainability technology.
Be hands-on with engineering tasks, providing technical guidance and participating in development as needed.
Take charge of project management tasks, including planning, scrum mastership, risk management, and stakeholder communications.
Make key technical decisions that guide the direction of our products, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and quality.
Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
Recruit top engineering talent and foster a collaborative, inclusive team culture.
Coach team members to develop their skills and grow in their careers.
Develop and optimize processes to improve efficiency and ensure high-quality deliverables.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Sustainability, Product, and Sales, to align engineering efforts with company goals.
Stay updated on the latest technologies and best practices in cloud computing, software development, and sustainability tech.
What qualifications should you have?
5+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a management or leadership role.
Proven experience in people management, team building, and coaching.
Experience with agile project management tasks, risk management, and stakeholder communications.
Hands-on engineering experience in Node.js, TypeScript, Angular, and cloud platforms like GCP.
Experience with BigQuery, Pub/Sub, and other relevant technologies is a plus.
A passion for sustainability and a desire to use your technical skills to make a positive impact.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A systematic and pragmatic approach to problem-solving, with a high sense of ownership and pride in team achievements.
Fluent in English. Swedish is a plus but not required.
